Pastor Tremayne M. Johnson is a native of North Carolina. He is the eldest son of the late Deacon Bennie and Rev. Dr. Karen S. Johnson-Moore. Pastor Johnson is a graduate of Fayetteville State University, obtaining an Undergraduate Baccalaureate degree in Middle Grades Education, with a Second Major in Math and a Minor in Science. Pastor Johnson is also a graduate of the prestigious Duke University, Durham, NC receiving a Masters in Divinity and was awarded the 2008 Duke University’s, Jameson Jones Preaching Award by the Faculty of the Divinity School. The North Carolina College of Theology awarded Johnson the Doctorate of Theology Degree for his dissertation entitled, “The Preacher Eve; A Theological Account of the Woman as Preacher, in the African American Context.” Pastor Johnson is also a graduate of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, receiving a Doctorate of Ministry Degree and a scholar under the mentorship of Dr. William H. Curtis and Dr. Gina M. Stewart. Dr. Johnson successfully defended his dissertation entitled; A Cause for Renewal; Preaching that Produces Liberation through the Understanding of the Spirit in Worship.
Pastor Johnson currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Newport News, Virginia, where the church has made a commitment to, “Make Every Effort to be the Church Where God Dwells Among His People.” Since coming to Zion, the church has began new ministries, fostered new outreached endeavors, began Children’s Church; filmed it first ministry commercial, and the atmosphere within the worship has transfigured under spiritual authority. Johnson has been called “a unique gift to the body of Christ.” He uses the gifts that God has blessed him with to reach and touch the hearts and souls of God’s people; and to allow God to use him as an instrument to impact the Kingdom. Pastor Johnson has been known as a Psalmist, Revivalist, Lecturer, and certainly a Worshipper, who seeks the Heart of God to Empower the People of God.

Pastor Johnson has served as a Pastor since the young age of 19. He has served the St. Paul Baptist Church Wilmington, NC, and the historic Browns Chapel Baptist Church in Clinton, NC. He is also a former Vice-Moderator of the Western Union Baptist Association of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Pastor Johnson is the husband of one wife, the lovely and vivacious, Reverend La’ Tysha N. Johnson, who faithfully stands and supports him in ministry. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Taylor and TaKayla.
Pastor Johnson has held membership in several fraternal and community organizations. He is a distinguished brother of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; A member of The Peninsula Pastor’s Council of Virginia, and The Collation of Concerned Clergy. Johnson is both passionate and committed to the call of God upon his life.
Reverend La’ Tysha Nyshia Johnson was born on July 13, 1977 in Sumter, SC to the late MaryAnn Bolden. She graduated from Charlotte, NC’s Harding University High School for Science, Math & Technology in 1995 and attended Fayetteville State University as a Chancellor Scholar. After being employed at FSU for 6 years, she re-enrolled and Graduated Dec ’09 with a BS degree in Biology. Through her research on Coral Extractions and its Anti-Cancer Properties she won 1st Place during the 2009 Chancellor’s Inauguration Faculty and Student Research Symposium and was awarded the opportunity to have her PhD work fully funded. She is currently a candidate for a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Liberty University.
At an early age, La’ Tysha recognized the call of God upon her life and came to know Jesus as her personal Savior. As a peculiar vessel in the atmosphere of the church, she served as a member and officer of the Youth Choir, Youth Department, Youth Missionary and the N.C. Mt. Peace Association. She works diligently in the service of the Lord, finding her hands busy in Kingdom Business and Building. La’ Tysha possesses a zeal for God like no other, pushing to please Him whatever the cost. Her quiet disposition depicts her as a meek and humble woman striving to be an example of finer womanhood; serving and motivating God’s People to reach their spiritual potential. Her ministry message is that of the Sanctification of the Body; 'for too long the Body of Christ have deemphasized sanctification'– but God is returning looking for “a church without spot or wrinkle – For Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

She is married to the Rev. Dr. Tremayne M. Johnson and has served alongside him in ministry as the First Lady, formerly of Brown’s Chapel MBC -Clinton, NC; where she ministered as the Director of the Adult Choir, Chair of the Daughters of Inheritances Women’s Ministry and the Annual D.O.I. Women’s Conference and Minister of Couples and Women. God, in His infinite wisdom, now has her serving with her husband at Zion Baptist Church in EastEnd of Newport News, Va. There she works with the Daughters of Destiny Women’s Ministry and the Annual L.O.L – Living Out Legacies Women’s Conference. She is the proud mother of Taylor Maddison-Karrington and TaKayla McKenzie-A’MaryAnn. Rev. Johnson is a member of Mt. Pleasant MBC – Clinton, NC under the leadership of Bishop Varnie N. & Co-Pastor Idella M. Fullwood.
Not realizing all that God has in store for this unique gift to the body of Christ, she understands that God is the source from which all things are possible. Through the Ministry of the Word, the Spirit of Encouragement and the Prophetic flow, this daughter of the hour is anointed to compel the Body to become the people that God is calling for in Kingdom Service. God has erected this vessel of power for such a time as this; to take the Kingdom of God to new levels….by Force.
